Yesterday was Memorial Day and I had to explain to Parker what it was all about. I told him to read my last blog, but his reading skills are not as good as mine. Summer school for him. We watched the Lititz Memorial Day parade, very exciting. Since it is hard for dogs to salute we just waved.
Dog owners please pay attention. I remembered this after it rained so hard last nigh and watched Mom dumping any standing water. She was mumbling about mosquitoes trying to give her babies heartworm. (real scary picture there) Not to worry on the 1st of every month Parker and I get our heartworm prevention medicine and it keeps us safe.
And summer is the fleas and ticks favorite time also. They are really bad this year. We don’t have any because we get Frontline once a month but some of the poor dogs that come into Ears to Rears salon are suffering because they don’t. Dogs just don’t like those bitey blood suckers. Dr. Baron and Dr. Daniel, my vets, told me some dogs are even allergic to fleas, YIKES.
Tell your owners to brush you a lot (helps with your hair all over the house too), and look for fleas and ticks. If you think you have them run over real fast and sit in front of your owners, scratch a lot and BARK.
Remember, fleas and ticks suck!

Yawn, can’t an old guy have a day off. Me and Mom got up and as soon as we came back in she put me to work. Told me to get the printing done of posters for the Wolf Sanctuary of PA. WOOF, now I’m interested.
When I was just a wee little guy I lived with my dog Mom and my Mommy Peggy. It was a very magical place. It was also Red Creek Wildlife Center. Besides my poodle brothers and sisters and my Dad and Mom of course, there were lots of wonderful wild critters that needed help. Sometime they were hit by a car, or worse yet, some very bad person shot them. Many would get healed and healthy and then released back to their world.
But there was one that was the most special to me in my great big doggy heart. She was a big white Arctic wolf. She might have even been wiser than my dog Mom. And most importantly she loved all of us and shared her great heart freely. Enough of that, don’t want Mom to see me cry cause my wolf Mom went to the Rainbow bridge as she was very old.
Back to important stuff, the printing. The Wolf Sanctuary of PA is having a great event, it’s called Music and Art with the Wolves. It’s June 20th, all day at Speedwell Forge B & B, 465 Speedwell Forge Rd, Lititz. Mom said it’s a fundraiser for the wolves. Since I can’t go (this is a day for them, not me) I want to send a big bag of treats.
They have a blog also, Wolf Eyes This is an event to HOWL about.

Mom explained that this is an important holiday. It’s more than just going to the beach, kids getting off of school and riding scary bikes and skateboards.
She showed me pictures of some military K-9’s and explained what they do and how they save people. Did you know that big Standard Poodles like me were used by the military also. I’m proud of that. Mom helped me “google” Memorial Day so I could read about it, This is what I found on the DAV site
“Memorial Day is the time to remember and honor those we love. We can celebrate those we have lost and those still in our midst. We can never do too much for the veterans whose bodies, minds and spirits bear the scars of war.”
So all you dogs out there this weekend, when you see a veteran, bow down, and wag your tail really hard and give them a happy thank you bark.

Today I was stretched out in front of the AC and I started to think about tonight’s blog. It was soooooooo hot out. Ever wonder how many poor dogs have to stay outside in this weather. All those owners need to do a better job and bring those dogs in and turn the AC on and put lots of ice cubies in their drinks. And please don’t make us walk on the burning hot pavement.
Today I watched my Mom groom. My favorite was a little Yorkie puppy name Cooper. Boy was Cooper little, about the size of my beautiful tail pompom. His puppy coat was changing to big boy hair so he really looked like he was plugged in when he got to the Ears to Rears salon. His Mom was all worried that he would never be pretty. My Mom gave him a bath in some yummy smelling shampoo with lots of protein in it, then sprayed some of MY Ice on Ice conditioner on him, trimmed all the straggles and he was done. His Mom was so happy she will be bringing him back in 3 weeks. I hope he grows, he was really tiny but Mom gave him a sample of my By Nature dog food.
Also, he tried to bark loud but he just was too small, was just a loud squeak. I have louder toys. He’ll learn.
Have a barking great day, and remember to practice that bark.

Hi World, I’m Einstein. For those of you who have not had the pleasure, I’m an 11 year old Standard Poodle and very handsome. I am also very intelligent. But all that is relative. Over my long lifetime I have learned many things that I want to share with all dog lovers and their dogs, because ‘Dogs Rock’
Most evenings after I return from my job, (I own a store called The Barking Lamb ). My Mom’s grooming salon is there too. It’s called Ears to Rears . My job is to help behind the counter and to greet everyone that comes in.
From time to time I will be inviting some guest bloggers. Mom told me a real live TV star has agreed to blog. Yippee bet they will have good treats for me. Do I have to share with my housemate Parker?
So dogs of the world the most important thing I can tell you to teach your people is to “BRUSH, BRUSH, BRUSH.” It will make you beautiful, you’ll feel great and their silly allergies won’t bother them as much. That translates to no more of “PUT THE DOG OUT”
Since I already told you I am quite smart please ask me any questions you have about grooming, playing in mud puddles, what dog food is really yummy or anything about dogs. Just put your paws in the COMMENTS and then subscribe to the RSS feed.
Have a barking great day. and remember when you are in the car it’s fun to BARK. More bark later.
